Spaz, in his last post, listed 5 things he found to be extremely useful to bring to a LAN. Noob. What an absolutely useless list. How typical of his mentality. Well I suppose some of the items ARE use-full: Wet naps are good and the chair is cool. But rest, really? Here is a better list to help you enrich your own LAN experience. No warranty (expressed or implied) that they will improve your performance, that’s your problem, but hopefully your EXPERIENCE!
Ridiculously over sized Monitor: Lets face it, you already spend a lot of time in front of a monitor. This is going to wreck your eye sight eventually. Might as well face it and find a good coping mechanism. Bigger screen= better view. Plain and simple. It MAY also help you locate that camping little tool that keeps sniping you through that impossibly small hole that you other wise wouldn’t be able to see. ( see a fore mentioned eye sight.) Side benefit: hides more of that awful ’70s wall paper that is filling up your peripheral vision.
Good Headset: Lets be real here. Nobody wants to hear the two dweebs behind them who are not in game at the moment, rationalizing why they still live ,at 38, in their parents house. You already have your reasons worked out. You want to be able to hear that shit sneaking up behind you in game!
Sleeping bag: This is more important than one might think. Yes, I said think. This piece of equipment needs to be thought out well. The LAN will likely go into multiple days, and you will HAVE to sleep sometime. Small and portable is key here. You won’t likely be crashing out side, so mega fill bags are over kill. Small, because when you need to sleep, you do not want some other moron capitalizing on your genius, and trying to share your sleeping space with you. Especially not that Adult Diaper wearing Neanderthal from Spaz’s post.
Coffee maker: That’s right, your own coffee maker. It’ll be clean, or at least you know what’s been through it.(tap water I hope) This way you will have your very own supply of caffeine enriched go juice to keep you out fo the sleeping bag for as long as possible. Must …keep…gaming.
Coffee filter packs: This should be straight forward. KISS principle applies here. Filter pack+water+coffee maker= JAVA!!!! No fuss/ no muss. This is good.
Now you have a useful list for marathon LANing. Go forth and use it. Note: don’t sit next to anyone in diapers or wearing a bib, think splash radius and collateral damage.
